Tomas was born in Sweden and has had the opportunity to live and work in several countries, which has enriched his perspective. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering, a master’s degree in Management Science, and a PhD in artificial intelligence (AI). His research has primarily focused on AI, with additional work in Management Science. He is passionate about research-driven innovation and its application in both the public and private sectors. Alongside his research, he has been engaged in entrepreneurship and has founded several companies. Over the past 25 years, he has held a number of board positions. His career has evolved from research to management and leadership roles at various Norwegian research institutes.

He is grateful for the opportunity to work at NILU alongside skilled colleagues, with a focus on creating sustainable development through internationally leading climate and environmental research.
