27. May @ 16:30 – 18:00
This hybrid event is hosted by the Horizon Europe projects eFORT and BeFlexible and is free but require a registration.
Description
As artificial intelligence moves from research to real-world deployment, the focus is increasingly shifting from what AI can do to how it can be implemented safely, responsibly, and effectively within critical infrastructure.
This panel session will explore how AI solutions are being introduced into complex, high-stakes environments such as energy systems, where reliability, security, and trust are essential. The discussion will highlight not only technological innovation, but also the practical challenges of adoption, including governance, stakeholder engagement, interoperability, and user acceptance.
In this event you will meet:
The session will bring together insights from two Horizon Europe projects, eFORT and BeFlexible, which address complementary aspects of this transition. While eFORT focuses on strengthening the resilience and security of energy infrastructure, BeFlexible explores how AI-enabled solutions can support flexibility, market participation, and system adaptability.
Following short project introductions, the panel discussion will focus on key questions such as:
- What does it take to deploy AI safely in critical infrastructure?
- How can trust be built among operators, stakeholders, and users?
- What are the main barriers to real-world adoption?
- How can innovation move from pilot projects to scalable solutions?
The session aims to provide a balanced perspective on both the opportunities and challenges of applying AI in real operational contexts, offering valuable insights for researchers, industry representatives, and policymakers.
